Proud mumma

Our first year as an official rescue was a busy one! We re-homed around 30 dogs—yes, that’s right, 30! An unexpectedly busy year for sure. And speaking of unexpected arrivals, we had our first litter of puppies after taking in a pregnant mum. Who knew that adopting a dog would also come with a bonus round of “Survivor: Puppy Edition”? Let’s just say, our house went from “dog-friendly” to “puppy party central” in record time! Who needs a reality show when you have this much chaos?

Sleepy pups

The beautiful Ginny had 10 puppies in total. So, we obviously decided that this was the perfect time to take on a litter of 9 cane corso pups too—because who doesn’t want to add a giant canine circus to the mix?

Luckily for us, 7 of the canes only stayed the night and went safely on their way to other rescues. The other 2 - Flora and Clover (because butter wouldn't melt) were welcomed into the KS family. I guess they decided to stick around for the after-party!

The mastiff addition

All 12 pups are now in their forever homes and are thriving. Most of them are even local to HQ meaning we see them every now and again!

Puppies are definitely a lot of work and very expensive—kind of like having a tiny, furry roommate who throws wild parties while you’re trying to sleep. But on the whole, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience (in a "let’s not rush into this again until we’ve saved up for a puppy-proofed mansion" kind of way).
